Vinho Verde is Portugal’s cool, coastal white-wine region in the northwest, known for light body, bright acidity, and a gentle spritz. It leans into citrus and green apple, with a clean, easy-drinking profile that makes it a great fit for warm weather and weeknight dinners.
Vinho Verde Rosé builds on that same framework but with native red grapes that bring in strawberry and red-berry notes. You still get the freshness, low alcohol, and slight fizz, just with a bit more fruit and a pale pink color that makes it feel very summer-ready.
Vinho Verde is usually a blend of native Portuguese white grapes, including but not limited to Alvarinho, Loureiro, Arinto, Avesso, Azal, and Trajadura. Together, in various blends, they give Vinho Verde its bright acidity and citrus‑driven, lightly spritzy profile.
Vinho Verde rosé is typically made from local red varieties such as Espadeiro, Padeiro, Vinhão, and sometimes Touriga Nacional, bringing delicate pink color, red‑berry fruit, and the same refreshing, low‑alcohol style
Both wines come from Quinta da Raza, an estate in the Basto subregion of Vinho Verde, north of Porto. The family has worked these granite-based slopes for generations, focusing on wines that are light, fresh, and clearly tied to the local climate and soils.
The philosophy is straightforward: farm carefully, use native grapes, and keep the winemaking clean and precise. The result is a house style that’s bright, low in alcohol, and built for drinking, not cellaring—exactly what you want from Vinho Verde.
Raza Vinho Verde (White)
In the glass, the white is pale straw with a light spritz. Aromas run to lime, lemon, and green apple with a hint of flowers; on the palate, it’s crisp, low-alcohol, and linear, with a dry, refreshing finish.
Food-wise, think anything from the sea: oysters, shrimp, simple grilled fish. It’s also excellent with salads, goat cheese, sushi, and tapas—basically any meal where you want a bright, uncomplicated white that doesn’t fight the food.
Raza Vinho Verde Rosé
The rosé shows a very pale pink color and brings fresh strawberry, raspberry, and a bit of watermelon to the nose. It keeps the same bright acidity and light spritz, finishing dry and clean rather than sweet.
At the table, it’s great with grilled chicken or pork, charcuterie, and Mediterranean-style plates with herbs, tomatoes, and olive oil. It also works well with mildly spicy dishes and is an easy choice for patios, picnics, and casual warm-weather meals.
