They tend to have well-seasoned cellar teams who are capable of reaping the benefits of the long decades of grower relationships. Labouré-Roi leans heavily into this idea with their Parcelles D'Excellence wines -- fruit from specific, family-owned sites, vinified in Burgundy, priced for Tuesday night pleasure.
Although the Parcelles D'Excellence wines are vinified in Burgundy, the fruit is sourced from carefully selected, higher-elevation parcels in the South of France. Vineyard sources include fruit from the foothills of the Montagne Noire in Minervois, Cévennes in northern Gard, and the upper Aude Valley near Limoux. These well-chosen sites offer higher altitudes, limestone soils, and a diurnal range, resulting in Burgundy-like conditions that perfectly preserve acidity and structure in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
